Synopsis
Huang Jiazheng is a 17-year-old music genius. His father is a well-paid doctor who makes him never have worries on material things. At 11, he won in the piano section in the interscholastic music festival of Hong Kong, and also got the opportunity to go to Czech to co-perform with professional band and to play for a record of Beethoven’s first piano concerto. However, he started to quest on his glorious life: “Why should I play music?” “Is my life all about music?” Questions like these emerge in his mind.
This year he is 17. He doesn’t have much improvement in his achievement in music, considering his prize and the chance of performance. He even stopped playing piano in two years. He is unhappy sometimes, not only because of his unsuccessful music career, but also for something deeper.
This documentary is about the innermost being: his meditation, his struggle and his choice. On the surface, it is a story of genuine. But actually it is a story of everyone. Because we also sigh at the inability to perform one’s skills and think over the need to fulfill one’s potential in daily life.
