Synopsis
Gong Fenghai, who was born in 1949 and has been working in Yan’an, is an educated urban youth (Zhi Qing) from Beijing. He has been living in Huangling County alone for 40 years, childless. He always holds the idea that the best era of China is those days under Chairman Mao’s leadership. He feels angry about all kinds of unfairness in nowadays China.
Gong is sixty this coming April, which means he will get retired at that moment. After hearing of the Low-Rent Housing Policy, which helps those retired senior citizen who want to be back and live in Beijing, Gong decides to go back during the Chinese New Year. He wants to drop by his brothers and cousins, and to know about Low-Rent House application procedures.
On Feb. 5th, 2009, Gong got on the train from Xi’an to Beijing. What the faraway hometown is like?

Zhang Tianhui was born in Fujian, 1982. Graduated from Beijing Film Academy. Major work is ‘The 7th Medical Ward’. He has participated in the fifth Chinese Independent Film Festival and won the Best Student’s Short Film Award.
