Synopsis
In this film, history goes reversely, while the characters grow naturally. A boy who never grow up, a free young man in the boy's imagination, a seemingly harmonious couple, a group of Red Guards, an informer and an aloof vagrant meet and cross during 1966-1976, making their own choices on personal lives and politics, and fighting against or accepting their fates in different ways.
The story comes to a turning point in 1973. A male teacher and the group of Red Guards entered an abandoned old factory after a long and difficult journey. Here, their revolution ideal had become historical remains. They also met with a vagrant, and communicated with him in their specific ways at that time. They began to doubt about the time: Why the revolution ended when it just began? Are we forsaken by our great time? The philosophical problems didn’t prevent the Red Guards from releasing their violent passio. They knocked down their teacher and brought the vagrant to the time and space of year 1974. All of these were watched by the boy. In the end he swiped off the blood on his face and grew up into a tall young man, which announced an oncoming big event.
