Synopsis
Two girls, one is a lesbian and another only loves boys, stray separately searching for love, and in the end of the movie they got together.
The Panda Candy is independently made, artistic youths all over China have gathered in which. One of the two leading roles is a woman writer after 1980 named Chunshu, another is a mysterious girl who doesn’t want her name leaked. The underground movie king Tu Qiang, Wu Qingchen and many strange moviegoers have showed in this film.
The film was simply produced when New Pants were doing road show. Every time they got to a city, they chose a temporary actor from the audiences in the show and shot several sequences. The seg-ments are finally combined together into a whole film.
It is the second feature film of Peng Lei, largely different from Peking Monster in style. The former is a realistic art film, depicts the confused love of youths after 1980. Those young individuals get personality distinct from others. They are also blind and easily get involved in exotic fashion . Girls could either fall in love with a boy in a traditional way, or love a girl of the same sex.
This film inquires the problem of choosing a lover and the features of Chinese new gen-eration of artistic youths.
