The “Young Movie Critics” training course by CIFF
On August 23, CIFF will hold a series of lectures about films----also, the “Young Movie Critics” training course. This training course is free for all the film lovers. Anyone who wants to take part in this course only need to submit an article on movie critics, which will help the organizer to figure out the general level of listeners. The first class will be in Nan Vision Gallery in West Beijing Road. Lecturers include Zhang Xianming from Beijing Film Academy, experienced curator Cao Kai, media planner, college teacher Shen Xiaoping, DJ Wu Yuqing.
Circular notice has been announced on Douban, Xiaobaihe BBS. And most of those who want to take this course are post-80’s, few are post-90’s. They all have passion for films and want to enjoy films in a more professional way. Some of them even came all the way from west Jiangsu province. However, the course can only accept 30 listeners because of limited condition.
The so called training course is more like a salon. It will not be too serious. For most of the times, the lecturer and listeners can communicate with each other. All the listeners hope to get some idea of moviedom from this course.
This course is somewhat revolutionarily romantic. It lasts from 9 am to 6pm. Besides a noon break, every minute is in good use. The condition is humble----listeners should sit on wooden benches and eat takeaway food. But, all the listeners are learning by heart. They are like those pilgrims who are so faithful. The scene is like that of France 50 years ago; those days’ people gather together to watch films.
Nanjing is neither a centre of fashion, nor of film. However, during CIFF, there are always a great number of film lovers here. We need to have faith in Nanjing.
During the 4-day courses, listeners can experience some different styles of lecture. Cao Kai is so humorous; Wu Yuqing is deep; Shen Xiaoping is talkative; Zhang Xianming has profound knowdge. The planner of CIFF said that, this course could be the first phase, after that; there will be the second, the third and even the fourth. That’s good news for film lovers for sure.
